Note: I brought this post over from my Squarespace blog which had five separate blogs linked together.

I have been having some serious doubts about whether I should continue blogging or specifically, using this format. I have to pay Squarespace a monthly fee which I didn’t mind at first since I got enough out of the blog to make it worthwhile. However, with Twitter and Tumblr, my attentions have been drawn elsewhere and maybe this has affected the posts here. In any case, with not much feedback, it feels like I am taking to myself which is something that is a bit alienating here (but strangely completely ok in the world of Twitter and Tumblr).

So if you read my blog, or even if this is your first visit, I urge you to vote on my little poll here. If I get no votes – well that’s my answer I suppose!

It’s been a while

Wow, I haven’t posted for AGES. Sorry about that. Truth is that I am kind of stuck. I like the structure I have here – the different blogs for my many diversions – but keeping it up is a real drain. I don’t even mean the posting but the fact that I have to deal with 6 installations of WordPress with 6 different databases – there must be an easier way but I don’t know what it is. Also, I really am starting to hate my front page. I may have to do something drastic. I am also sick of not being able to track my stats. I realise that my readership is modest but at the moment it feels non-exisitent, which is another reason why I haven’t written for a while. WordPress 2.7 has just been released and I need to decide how I am going to handle this since I have already upgraded my test blog and I love the new interface. I am just not sure if it is worth the inevitable pain it will bring if I try it here. I want a new theme that actually works properly with 2.7. I want this to be simpler. I want to enjoy blogging again. God, this is so boring. Here is a funny picture to amuse you while I sort out my blog issues!

And if anyone wants to help me out, I would love to hear from you!

SSDD

I should be writing an essay (due midnight tonight, word count = 0) but as is my way (which you will know by now if you have ever read my blog ever), I suck. I have not yet finished the reading and I have a lot of actual work to do (the kind that puts food on the table). I predict another anguish-heavy evening of writing something sub-par and not nearly as good as I could actually write if I, say, applied myself. This is something I talk about a lot but I really wish that one day, the work-hard fairy would come along and sprinkle me with her motivation dust.

On the bright side, I am really doing my bit for the environment with my massive conservation programme. Conservation of effort counts, right?

ps I can’t believe I have only just added a ‘slackin” category since that is how I spend most of my life.

pps. I too am bored of my lack of motivation. Sorry about sharing it with you AGAIN.

ppps. It also annoys me when people write pps and ppps – it really does not mean anything. Post post script? Post post post script?? Argh.

Procrastination for the nation

It’s everywhere I look. Bloggers everywhere seem to be blogging about what they should be doing and what they are doing to avoid doing what they should be doing. Phew! For me it’s that time again. Well, in truth, it’s actually 8 days PAST that time again. I am overdue on my next OU essay and I have not yet written a word. Illness and a holiday have so far given me pseudo-reasons for not getting on with it. Also, my tutor has ignored the two emails I sent to him requesting an extension (both sent BEFORE the due date like a good little girl). So I am in a huff with him for not replying. Yeah, I will show him. Watch me not do my essay. I keep changing my mind about which essay to write so I have done the reading for both.

I know I leave things to the last minute but I am seriously struggling to write this essay. My heart is not in it and when that happens, well, I am screwed. The problem is my heart is not in a lot of things lately. I feel like everything has come to a stand still and I am standing on my own in the middle of nowhere with nothing in front or behind. There is a lot of pressure on me to stick with this course – if I am serious about becoming a teacher – an English teacher at that – then I ought to be able to summon the necessary passion or will to write 1500 goddamn words.

Ack this isn’t getting my essay written, is it? Sorry for the whinge. I am off to look up the lyrics to ‘Who let the dogs out’ or some such shit and get the fuck on with it.

Photo heaven

In the past, Ricardo has spent a lot of time developing our photo website but was limited by lack of software and experience. Having seen the easy functionality and nice layout of Flickr, we have decided to use this instead, which will save us time in the long run. However, today I have spent hours uploading our pictures, adding tags and renaming the pics so that it looks great. At approximately 9.13pm this evening, I realised that I will not get this task finished tonight which really irks me. I will keep going for an hour or so but I am tired and it’s Sunday night. Good job Return of the King is on to entertain me. Check out how I have got on so far…

Sunday roast

My parents have just gone home after I cooked a kick-ass roast lamb dinner which turned out very well considering I haven’t cooked a roast for a long, long time. I am very full and not feeling very much like writing. I am looking forward to spending the rest of the evening slumped in front of the TV despite the fact that I have plenty of chores etc to be getting on with.

I am afraid I am still a bit addicted to That 7o’s Show. There is a pattern I go through when I latch onto a new programme. I am not quite at the forum stage yet so there is hope for me. But I have been trawling YouTube for videos and found some hilarious bloopers -I do love bloopers. I like all bloopers better than the shows themselves. I love the fact that you are seeing the actors behave naturally and not in character.

Anyhoo, sorry for the lameass post – hope you all had a good weekend. Do anything fun?

Even lazier days

It is 6pm on a Saturday and I have completely wasted today by sitting on the bed watching TV, reading blogs, writing my blog, searching for flights for a holiday in which my husband has no interest yet, reading and posting in forums, watching random videos on YouTube and drinking tea. This was not what I intended when I settled into this very comfortable position. I should have writing for my end-of-course assignment but other than read some of my course book, I have done jack.

On an even more depressing note, we have just discovered our car has been scraped by some dickhead who did not leave a note. It’s very distressing. Our lovely, beautiful, blue, new(ish) car. What is up with that? Are there any decent people left? I mean, if it were me (and I had caused that much damage), I would have to leave a note. My conscious wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope. Well I suppose if no-one had seen…. NO I would definitely, possibly, be likely to leave a note.

Oh Zizou, you have an ouchie. (FYI, Zizou is the name of our car. It’s normal to name your car, right?)
