I had a little business trip to London yesterday which involved getting the first cheap train in (the 8.49am from Leamington Spa), spending just over an hour going through some documents and then having lunch with an old colleague and good friend, Kirsty.  It was great.  It also meant I could mooch around the small but perfectly formed Paperchase at Liverpool Street Station.  Paperchase is just deadly.  I want everything in the whole damn shop.  I managed to restrict my purchases to the following from the very cute owl range:

owlbagpad

I also spotted these in the same range and snapped up 3 packs of 2 – we really do need these!  We do love our dippy eggs and soldiers!

I phoned Rich shortly after these purchases and informed him he no longer needed to get me anything for Valentine’s Day! I am not sure why I am particularly taken with owls lately but my mother-in-law must be some kind of witchy-lady as she foresaw it by buying us some cute ceramic owls for Christmas.  I can’t find them online so I will try to remember to post a picture of them in our lounge later on.

It’s almost here!

I have had all these plans to share pretty pictures of my fantastic Christmas tree (haven’t got round to taking any yet though), to boast about my superb crafting skills (except I havn’t finished the felt decoration I am making and am unlikely to before the Big Day), to take you step by step through my cookie baking adventures (well, I did bake one batch of cookies but again, there is no photographic evidence) and to show you all my lovely wrapping (handstamped thank you very much – but again, no pictures).

The moral of this story is that I need to get my bloomin’ camera out and get snapping.  Maybe tonight?  Or tomorrow? It’s not to late, Christmas is still 35 hours away!

Last night we went out to The Moon and Sixpence in Hanwell, Oxon for our work Christmas do which basically consisted of the Managing Director (aka Dad), the Financial Director (aka Mum), the Claims Manager (aka me) and our IT consultant (aka my husband).  It was delicious and we had a fantastic night. I was also lucky enough to receive some vouchers from the Directors so I am trying to decide what to get from John Lewis.

So far these are in my wish list (I cannot get it all!):

And then there is some serious decision making to be made.  I want to replace my food processor. Do I go for a new Magimix? A Kitchenaid food processor? Or a Kitchenaid Mixer (which I really want but is more expensive and does less than what I already have) and seperate blender?

In other news, my cold has *almost* gone so I hope to be fully clear of it by Christmas.  I will also be able to knuckle down and get my next assignment written – eek.

And on the 6th day, God created Manchester

I have not been very chatty lately, mainly due to the fact that I have been über-busy and also I have an essay to write, due Friday (dun-dun DUUUN).

I fully intend to write about all the cool stuff we have been up to (2 weddings, a Christening, an anniversary, a 60th birthday celebration to give you some idea) but right now I should be working on my essay so no dice.  Well, actually, since it is the middle of the day, I should be working so I am off to do that now and will catch you all later.  In the meantime, during a trip to my favourite city, Manchester, after a family funeral (oh yes, I have been to one of those too), my parents and I were walking back to the car in the city centre after having colelcted the will from the solicitors and Dad noticed this unassuming little pub.

It was where Mum and Dad first got together, some 40 years ago.  28th June will be their 39th wedding anniversary.

GTD? I would like that.

OK. So today I am trying to be good and positive and productive.  My work to-do list is crazy long and my one for the house is not much better:

  • Finish shopping for anniversary present/card/paper etc for Ricardo – it is 5 years on Saturday
  • Sort out Dad’s present – his 60th is on Saturday also!
  • Clean the house.  It is a complete hole.
  • Sort out my craft corner – it is out of hand and no crafting is getting done there.
  • Study, study and more study.  I have to catch up on the reading and start writing my last essay.  I have a day school on 10th May (first one I am attending – I thought it was about time).
  • Work on my new website
  • Tackle the laundry / ironing mountain
  • Pick up dry cleaning ready for the wedding on Sunday (we have had A LOT on lately)
  • Buy some food for us to eat – our cupboards are pretty bare (and a bit grimey… need to clean house pronto)
  • Watch my stories

Phew.  Funny how no amount of reading Lifehacker or Unclutterer actually makes this list go down.  By the way, in case you were wondering what GTD means, read this.
