Last night, I put the finishing touch on Evelina’s quilt – I attached the binding and wrote the label. It is traditional to write on a new quilt for posterity. Usually, you include a name for the quilt, the maker’s name and location and the date of creation. I also included a birthday message:
When I find a minute, I will write a proper post about how I made it for the sew make believe blog – I’ll let you know when it’s done.

I am home early after tonight’s sew make believe meeting because I am exhausted and feeling a wee bit icky but I am pleased to say that progress on the quilt is good! I have so far:

It is totally doable, force majeure events permitting. Eek! Oh and the title refers to the fact that I am unable to straighten my left arm due to too much crafting! Hard core!

This weekend I have spent a lot of time quilting. I managed to finish off a group effort for a special purpose – more on that later. This is just a tiny section to whet your appetite:

I would really like to make an advent calendar for Evelina although I realise that she won’t really be able to appreciate one until next year at the very earliest. Martha Stewart has a few lovely ideas but given that I am also trying to get Evelina’s quilt finished before her birthday, I think I am going to go for this super easy option also suggested by Martha.
I can pick up some cheap baby and kids socks and use some that Evelina has outgrown. It won’t take long to assemble and it will last a good few years.
I will need:
12 pairs of socks
Ribbon
Mini-pegs
Felt for number backings
Embroidery thread or stick-on numbers

If you know me IRL, and usually get a gift from us at Christmas, there is a good chance you will receive something handmade this year. Not only will this save some money but it is something I have been wanting to do for some years now.
Yesterday, I shared my Chistmas make list over at sew make believe. If you don’t want to know what I might make, look away now!
I saw these first at Wise Craft and we blogged about them a while back. They would make great gifts as storage jars or candle holders.
Another great idea from Martha.
I have not decided on a recipe yet, but I want to make some kind of chutney, pickle or jam!! Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Something from this book – maybe quilted coasters or some other quick project.
