First of all I apologise for taking so long to blog about what is the biggest thing that has ever happened to me but I am sure you all appreciate, this week has not been an average week by any means. Last Thursday we had our removal company in the house all day packing up our things ready for the big move day on Friday.
In order to make as much progress as possible, we had them pack all our major furniture save the bed so we decided that I would stay with my parents on Thursday night while Rich stayed at the house. I had intended to return to our house one last time on Friday morning to help with the final clean up. Instead, I woke at 3.30am Friday morning with a distinct pain – I wasn’t sure whether it was something significant or whether I just needed the loo. After the fifth time I had got up to try to go to the loo, I started to realise that these pains were rather regular and that perhaps things had finally started. The timing could not not have been worse!
At 5.45am, I started to keep a note of the time of the pains (AKA contractions) and they were 8 minutes apart. I waited until about 6.45am before waking my parents as I thought I better let them know – after all, if I was going to be calling Rich over, Dad was going to have to get to our house for 8am ready for the removals company. I called Rich, waking him, and each pain was feeling slightly worse. When Rich arrived, we continued to time them and when they were coming 1 in 5 (1 contraction in 5 minutes), we called the hospital. We were told to wait until they were 3 in 10 and then call again, which we did. We eventually decided at 8.50am to go in and so our fun day at the hospital began.
The full birth story will be posted (eventually) to my Mama Kate blog in due course – I don’t have the time now to go into it. The important thing to know is that on Saturday at 1.55am, Evelina Isobel Sydney was born weighing a relatively modest (compared to all the predictions) 8 lbs 10 ozs. She is completely perfect and I am completely in love with her.
Oh, she is just gorgeous – what a little sweetheart! I’m also super-impressed that you’re managing to blog at all with a new baby and a move, so thank you for letting us see her
Oh look what you made you clever girl! A beautiful baby!
Congratulations Kate, she is gorgeous.
Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow. In fact, the whole thing is so amazing I don’t know what else to say!
Welcome to your little precious girl! That is one of the loveliest newborn photos I have ever seen – I’d like to just plant a kiss on her gorgeous forehead.
Well done to you, Mama Kate!
