This afternoon we both got some boring but necessary house chores done. Rich tidied the garage and put up some trunking over the garage wiring. I tackled the spare room (where my craft area was hidden below a pile of fabric, magazines and other things that were making it harder and harder to get started on some crafting. I knew that I would not make any progress if I didn’t make some room on my bookcase for my Sew Hip magazines that were stacking up.
I decided it was time to go get rid of my two year’s worth of Real Simple magazines that I have collected from when I had a (rather expensive) subscription. Real Simple is an American magazine that is packed with organisational advice and great party ideas. The recipes are pretty good (if you can find one with ingredients available over here) and some really good motivational and inspirational pieces. But unlike my Martha Stewart Living magazines, I rarely (if ever) referred to them so I decided they had to go. I went through every magazine, ripping out the article and recipes I wanted to keep and then I will recycle / give away the rest. The end result of this task was that I was able to tidy up my craft area.
And this meant I was able to sew something at last. I started off with an easy project – one of two tattoo cushions I am making for the lounge. I am really pleased with how easy this was and how it came out.
