This post is going to be a short one as I still have my essay to finish but I couldn’t let this moment in TV history go past unacknowledged. For the first time ever, a UK TV station aired an episode of TV at the same time as it aired in the US. The fact that this episode was the final double episode of Lost was even more awesome. We set our Sky Plus to record since we couldn’t quite face getting up at 5am but set our alarms and rose at 7am to catch it before work. It was totally worth it. I know there have been A LOT of people (on Twitter at least) who were disappointed with the finale. I am not one of them. I loved it. Really, really loved it.
I thought the writers did a superb job of tying up as much as they needed to, leaving some mysteries unsolved, as it should be. And I cried a lot, which is really weird early on a Monday morning. I will miss you, Lost but I am looking forward to rewatching the series again from the beginning once we get the DVDs.
I may well write a fuller Lost post once I have the time and you all have had time to catch up.

Oh my god- it was brilliant!! And I cried loads, too. I can’t quite believe it’s finished. It’s been our regular Friday night viewing for years and I feel very lost (oops- pardon the pun) without it. I was soooo not disappointed!
I am glad you weren’t disappointed either – I still keep thinking about it!
I totally teared up at certain points. On an emotional level, it was very satisfying. I even was cool with the purgatory thing. The big white light (of the island and at the end) was a little much, but that’s me and my own beliefs.
Yeah I know what you mean but I didn’t really even mind that – just thought it was lovely that out Losties all ended up together eventually. It’s pretty cool that the writers wrote the final scene after the pilot and stuck to it (which is probably why Shannon was there despite not exactly being pivotal to the show and why Ben didn’t go into the church, although they made that make sense too). Have you read the explanation that has apparently come from Bad Robot (JJ Abrams’s production co)? It is pretty cool – I will post it soon.
