- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (natch)
- 1984 by George Orwell
- The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
- His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman (that may be cheating!)
- The Green Mile by Stephen King

YES! I love The Handmaid’s Tale, and also His Dark Materials. I haven’t read The Green Mile, but It and The Shining are both Stephen King books I have read more than twice, because they are AWESOMES x
Oh yes – The Shining I have read twice but not more than twice but is definitely a favourite. Have never read It – it looked too scary!
Pride and Prejudice – yes
The Handmaid’s Tale – yes
Also:
The Little Princess by Frances Hodgson-Burnett – by childhood favourite!
Hideous Kinky by Esther Freud – my “can’t sleep” book
Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons – such a funny novel!
I haven’t read A Little Princess – I thought I had but I don’t think so. I love The Secret Garden though.
Ah! I was going to do a similar post this weekend! How freaky!!! haven’t read Green mile or 1984 (is that something of a no-no for us brits?!), but the other three are on my many read list. Also, wuthering heights (no shock), the Harry Potters 3-7 (lets just ignore the first two), and various other kids books I have used over and over again for teaching – just because I could!!!
Nxxx
Great minds think alike! I still haven’t read past books 1 and 2 of Harry Potter – must do that one day!
the first two Potter’s, for me, are the worst. The third was the turning point and still my favourite of all of them!
Ah, I LOVE Cold Comfort Farm, don’t know how many times I’ve read it now! I must also throw in any and all of the Adrian Mole books, for having read so many times entire chunks are committed to memory!
I love to return to Catch-22, Anne of Green Gables and Little House on the Prarie. I’ve never even tried a Stephen King – I’d be putting them all in the freezer by the end of the first page (have you seen that episode of Friends?!). I think I hardly own a book I haven’t read twice – I only keep the ones I love
I have the Little Princess somewhere if you’d like to borrow it.
Agree with Nat, book 3 is the best Harry Potter – changed the tone for the rest!
I would love to have books I have read over and over, but whenever I think about reading a book again I always end up reading something I haven’t read instead.
I think it would probably be Jane Austen that I went back to.
Northanger Abbey!
And His Dark Materials…. i wrote a dissertation on that!!!
I see you’re from Warwick… I have a random question… What;s Charlecote Park like?
)
Charlecote Park is lovely! We visited in August. We didn’t go in the house, just the outhouses and the gardens but it was lovely all the same – deer in the park, a lovely cascade…
