On Saturday, I went to the Rag Market in Birmingham for the first time with my super club Sew Make Believe. I had promised myself that I wouldn’t buy too much fabric – I already have a massive stash and two major projects on the go (for which I already have everything I need!).
But being around that much fabric is bound to weaken my defenses. This was the first successful hit:
I have no idea what I will make with this – quilted coasters? A skirt? No clue. Apparently, I just couldn’t resist grey and purple tartan, though.
I was happy then. I had made a purchase and was enjoying just browsing around the varied stalls. And then I spied these:
You may wonder why I would buy such garish socks – I am a 33-year-old woman after all who has no place wearing knee high skull socks (although I am tempted!). I in fact bought these so that I could make sock toys of my own like Caroline’s. I also managed to snag a huge back of toy filler from the market outside the rag market for £2.50.
So now I was totally complete. No need to buy anything else. Or so I thought. Then I spied these:
Which led to this:
And once Halloween comes into it, I am helpless. So now I have a little pile of orange and black with which to fashion to home decorations (pumpkin to be purchased!).
Oh I and I also bought these but I don’t feel so bad about this since I think all of us bought some. I commented at the time that a psychologist could probably tell a lot about us depending on the colours we picked since we all had a very specific palette!.
So there you have it. We had a fab day. My stash got that little bit bigger. And my husband and I are seriously considering rehousing my craft corner (he has offered me the study although I am not sure he was all that serious!).

Quite a haul!
I have Paul Frank over-the-knee socks with Monkey’s all over which I wear… though not usually in public. I tend to wear them either under my boots for an extra layer over tights or when I’m wearing long boots under jeans. I also wear them as bed socks – I’m just not willing to give up on patterned knee socks yet!
Oh I am so glad you said that because as I was writing the post, I was thinking ‘maybe I could wear them under boots in the winter…’. I do love the skull ones!

You are so sweet Nat thanks!!!! xx
I love the socks! (I am wearing some with cats on them right now, though I’m not sure I’m any sort of guide on style…). I’m glad the trip was such a success – can’t wait to hear what the new crafting plans are
