My husband likes to tease me about my burgeoning interest in comic books – I am not sure at what point it was in our relationship that I became the bigger geek but this new love will most certainly have had something to do with it!  I was looking through the t-shirts in HMV a while back and couldn’t resist a black batman tee with the classic yellow batman logo.  However, despite my recent weight loss, the top was still just that bit too tight to be altogether comfortable and as such, it sat rather forlornly in my bottom drawer.

Fast forward to the Sunday before last and after a bit of a wardrobe/clothes drawers tidy and I picked up the barely-worn t-shirt and decided to do something about it.  I grabbed a plain black tee which *does* fit and sat down at my craft table.

The first step was to cut out the logo:

I then tried a few different options for where to place the logo on the bigger shirt.

I considered something a bit off-centre and jaunty.  However, after pinning the logo to the front and then trying the shirt on, I decided I didn’t like the angled placement.

I was completely unsure how to sew the logo on.  At first, I tried ironing the edges over so that the edges were neat.

However, I didn’t like the way the stitched showed (my whip stitch is not that good!).  After a few trails and uses of the unpicker, I decided to leave the edges raw – much more rock n roll.

I carefully measured out the centre, pinned on the logo and then used my machine to sew it on. Easy peasy!  I am not totally sure the logo is straight (despite my careful measuring!) but that could just be wonky boobs!

I am pretty pleased with the result and even more happy that my Batman t-shirt is not languishing in the bottom drawer, along with my Dukes of Hazzard shirt that also doesn’t fit (my next clothing project!).
