Whilst the theme for NaBloPoMo is not compulsory, it would be nice for at least my first post in the series. So what does this word mean to me?  Well, there are plenty of images around the web which represent beauty.  I have tried to find some that are personal to me.

Brides

Ok, I may be biased but there is something particularly vibrant about a bride on her wedding day.  My mum was no exception.  Beautiful. Dad looked dapper too!

Sunsets

Look I know it’s a cliché but this particular sunset over the Irish west coast was a beauty. Rich and I wrapped up (it was very cold) on this January evening and took a walk along the beach. Despite the fact that life was kicking us fairly hard, we still managed to find some much-needed serenity on this holiday and the walk on the beach was a great way to start.

Curves

I struggle with my weight.  Joining a gym and living healthily have helped me lose a stone.  This is something I wanted to do – there is only so many times you want to hear a doctor tell you that you are overweight before you want to do something about it (that number was twice for me).  And whilst I know that being overweight can be unhealthy, I don’t want to go mad with losing weight (which is just as well since I don’t think I could!) since I also know that curves are beautiful.  Christina Hendricks is a perfect example of this. I loved her short but sweet appearance in Firefly and I really need to watch Mad Men.   I also must try to remember this next time I look in the mirror and get miserable because I can’t fit into Superdry clothes.  Also, I think red hair is beautiful too. I have no idea why ‘ginger’ is used as an insult in this country.
