So I didn’t get my screenplay finished in time to post on the Tuesday deadline so I decided to hand deliver it by driving to Milton Keynes and The Open University’s headquarters (an option that was offered in the course handbook). I managed to get it all done, three copies printed as needed along with three copies of the 1000 word reflective commentary also required, drove over Friday afternoon, got my receipt stamped and dated… only to be told by my tutor last night via email that the system is showing that my assignment was not received. WTF?! I’ve replied to my tutor telling her I definitely submitted it, and also sent a snotty (but as yet unread) message to the OU. And my bank holiday weekend just got a little less relaxed. I am hoping it is just a system error but I could have done without my tutor emailing me on Sunday night of a bank holiday when we clearly wont be able to find out what happened until Tuesday at the earliest.
Hey ho. At least it is done. And regardless of the result, I am proud of what I wrote. It is by no means perfect but I really loved writing it, which is pretty cool for me. About 10 minutes into this second, more advance creative writing course, I realised I am not a writer in that I don’t even really enjoy the process of writing that much and certainly not enough to be writing on a dialy basis. But script writing / writing for films? That I could get excited about. Completely pointless of course, since I am not about to start submitting scripts but fun nonetheless.
This assignment marked the end of my fifth module towards my Literature degree – just one left and I will have another degree. Bizarre!
Anyway, hope you are having a good bank holiday (if you have one where you live) and happy Memorial Day to my American readers.
