We watched the Simpsons episode which pays homage to 24 the other day. It was fab – they got the structure and elements of 24 down to a tee: split screens, tension, moles (who would have thought Martin had it in him?), acroynyms – the whole shebang.
In the episode, Principal Skinner opens a CTU – Counter Truancy Unit – at the school with Lisa taking point on the operation. Meanwhile, Homer goes to Kwik-E-Mart to dispose of a yoghurt that is totally minging and toxic but the stinky yoghurt falls into the hands of the school bullys: Dolph, Jimbo and Kearney. Lisa drafts in their best rogue agent, Bart, to help stop the bullies from releasing the ultimate stink bomb at the school’s bake sale.
Naturally, the highlights were the hilarious cameos by Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland) and Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub):
“I’m Jack Bauer, who the hell are you?”
